So let me guess…you weighed yourself on the scales this morning, after your shower and before getting dressed. You went through your usual routine of making sure you went to the loo first, took all jewellery off that may add a few grams to the ‘true’ number. You then proceed to position the scales to ensure they get an accurate number, you step on, hold your breath, close your eyes and ……slowly open them to read the number on the scales. The number is the same as yesterday! You don’t feel too bad but you can’t let yourself feel too good because you haven’t lost any weight. You make plans to eat ‘healthy’ that day and not be ‘bad’. The next day, you jump on the scales again to see if your good eating (no breakfast, green salad for lunch and chicken and broccoli for dinner) helped it reduce the number, Yay you lost 200gm it’s a good day today, you feel like you are going to have a good day…the scales told you so. Hmm..does it sound a bit ridiculous when you read it like that? Can you see the yoyo effect of dieting and how we can be ruled by the scales?

Let’s put the scales away.

All they do is tell you whether you can like yourself or not for that day and dictate what you eat and how you eat your food. Don’t get me wrong, there is a time and a place to weigh yourself but it shouldn’t be every day and it shouldn’t be the defining measure on how you judge your success.

The biggest key to your success is consistency in healthy eating habits, support, guidance and education and a little exercise. Success isn’t about punishing yourself through gruelling exercise schedules while under eating and disliking what you see in the mirror. That attitude of pure punishment until you reach the golden number causes stress and anxiety and in some cases depression. These health issues have more impact on your ability to regulate your weight more than a flexible meal once or twice a week ever will.

I am here to show you how to achieve your goals in a sustainable, never diet again kind of way. It’s amazing how good my clients have felt just by being made aware and adopting a few simple strategies in their approach to regulating their weight, feeling great again in their own skin.
